It has long been believed that the CCP is responsible for mass-genocide towards dissenters. Today’s news that Disney sought help and actually thanked those same people isn’t surprising. The latest controversy started after the release of “Mulan” on Disney+ over the weekend, with the end credits featuring a thank you to the “publicity department of CPC Xinjiang Uighur Autonomy Region Committee,” which is the Chinese Communist Party’s propaganda machine. (via THR) Noticeably, the region that is thanked by the studio is precisely where there have been reports of over a dozen concentration camps, of which hold millions of Uighurs (Muslims) have been held in detention. To make matters worse, Mulan is played by Liu Yifei, a competent actress who, earlier in the year, caused controversy by voicing discontent towards Hong Kong protesters. This has led to boycott calls of the film. Yifei posted an image on the Chinese social media network Weibo that sparked controversy after the actress stood in solidarity with Hong Kong police, despite reports that they used excessive force against peaceful protesters and journalists Why would Yifel support the authoritarian police state crackdown of Hong Kong by the Chinese government? It boggles the mind. Calls for boycotting the movie have justifiably been launched. You might as well join the movement, the movie is anyways terrible and the CCP’s crimes are no a joking matter - they are an authoritarian regime which lacks the kind of human decency and compassion that industry progressives tend to fervently rally for on social media. Hypocrisy is the name of the game here, don’t be fooled by celeb-induced social justice tweets, Hollywood will turn a blind eye any chance they get for the quick buck. Contribute Hire me
