Here’s some good news. Allen has wrapped production on his latest film in Paris. He tends to be pretty quick in the editing room, so this one should easily be ready by early 2023. The film started production on September 27th. That’s a quick shoot, but it’s how Allen usually works. Not many takes, just a few locations and a sprightly atmosphere. DP Vittorio Storaro is back shooting this latest one with Allen. Word is mum on the plot details of WASP22. Although, Storaro has hinted about its mixture of dark drama and comedy: “I know the story, but, with Woody, secrecy is a must. However, I would not compare it to “Match Point” (as Allen did). The script does a masterful job at mixing drama and comedy, each time calibrating them in very different ways. I can say that it takes place in the present, there will be laughter, but also dark chills.” Allen has a stacked cast of French actors for this film, all of the leads have been Cesar-nominated: Niels Schneider, Lou de Laage, Melvil Poupaud, Valerie Lemercier and Elsa Zylberstein.
