Will She Said Crash The Race World Of Reel

THR’s resident awards expert, Scott Feinberg, has seen “She Said” and even included it in his Best Picture predictions. It’s been selectively screen in Los Angeles these past few weeks. Maria Schrader’s film needed films to disappoint at the fall fests, and now that that has occurred, I believe this Harvey Weinstein investigative film, à la “Spotlight,” could be a Best Picture nominee. I’m hearing that both Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan will be campaigned as Supporting actress. Smart move, since that category has dead weight right now. Mulligan is said to give the much better performance of the two. She’s probably a lock in that category. I’d say the five we are looking at right now are Jean Smart (Babylon), Jessie Buckley (Women Talking), Nina Hoss (TAR), Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin) and Carey Mulligan (She Said). “She Said” will be screening on the morning of October 13th for NYFF press and will have its world premiere that same evening — the review embargo will break at around 9pm.
