The San Sebastián Film Festival revealed their competition lineup yesterday. Of note, the world premieres of Christophe Honore’s “Le Lyceen,” Ulrich Seidl’s “Sparta,” and Hong Sang-soo’s “Walk Up” (the latter a European premiere) — all three rejected by Venice. I’m getting more Telluride intel, this one concerning Scott Cooper’s “Pale Blue Eye” which will be having its world premiere over there. This all means we can scratch off more titles from our “What’s Left?” piece, dated a few weeks ago. Pretty much every big title has been picked up, the biggest omissions so far being William Oldroyd’s “Eileen” and Ira Sachs’ “Passages.” Maybe the rumors that Sachs was rejected by Cannes in May were indeed accurate.
