“Bones and All” is loved by The Telegraph. Also, The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw has given it another 5/5 perfect score, his third of the fest so far. THR is fairly high on it as well. Total Film gives it 4/5. Screen Daily likes it. Other raves include freelancers for The Playlist and IndieWire. The BBC is conservative with a 3/5. Ditto Collider with its B- grade. The negative takes include Vanity Fair, and Variety. I do wonder if Timothee Chalamet can sneak into the Best Actor race for this movie. It’s a fairly weak category this year and he is getting some of the best reviews of his career for this. Earlier: You know the drill. I’ll be updating this post once reviews start trickling in a few hours. Luca Guadagnino’s “Bones and All” has screened at Venice and the reactions I’ve gathered from critics and audiences is that it’s gory and good. Is it great? Not really, but we’ll let the reviews confirm that later today. In the meantime, some Letterboxd reviews. It’s all over the place. Guadagnino has made a movie that is an uneasy mix of horror and romance. Let’s remember, this one is skipping TIFF, but going to Telluride. A reaction from Keith Simanton: #TaylorRussell (great in WAVES) is a strong presence here in L. Guadagino’s return to form after SUSPIRIA. Taylor & Chalamet are cannibals, born to it like some junkies are born addicts. If you’re already unnerved you should pass but it’s unforgettable Contribute Hire me
