Having spoken to more than a few stuntmen over the years, it’s all about the rush. Once you start doing it, it’s very hard to stop. Much props to Cruise, I don’t think anyone else in Hollywood goes to these extremes. With all that being said, Deadline’s Mike Fleming Jr. had earlier reported that Cruise and Elon Musk’s Space X were working alongside NASA in what would be the first-ever narrative feature film shot in outer space. Today we got confirmation that the space trip is now scheduled for October 2021. Space Shuttle Almanac confirmed on Twitter that the Axiom Space Station, piloted by Commander Michael Lopez-Alegria, will set off on a tourist mission in October of next year, with Cruise and director Doug Liman on board. Liman is in the process of writing the film’s screenplay, and the budget is estimated to be around $200 million. You would think that the budget would be much higher than that, considering the costs of going to space et all, alas, the as-of-yet-untitled film is said to be an “action-adventure.” No other details have been given to us. Suffice to say, If you thought Cruise could top climbing the Burj Kalifa in “Ghost Protocol,” then how about performing high-octane jumps .. in freaking space. Cruise is 57 years old and is set to release “Top Gun: Maverick” next year. I don’t think there are any cases of COVID-19 in space, so Cruise and co. need not worry if the pandemic is still happening by next October. Contribute Hire me
