Roman Polanski S The Palace Gets November Release Date In Europe World Of Reel

A November release date in those territories has been set. However, the Italian release date is January of 2023. There is still no French distributor, but I’m hearing that an offer has been put on the table. Things are now looking up for “The Palace.” No word yet on whether or not it was submitted to a film festival. Polanski would have to speed up the editing process, there is no new info I can share at the moment....

Rumor Lucasfilm Head Kathleen Kennedy Could Be Fired Very Soon World Of Reel

These rumors have been going on for a few weeks now, but they’ve only accentuated since Iger’s return. The Direct reports that Disney plans to relieve Kathleen Kennedy of her position soon. Coincidentally, a Business Insider piece from today also happens to insist that Iger absolutely needs to steer the Star Wars ship back on track. There hasn’t been an actual Star Wars movie since 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker” and the franchise’s next film is years away, supposedly in 2025....

Sam Mendes Empire Light Has November Release Date World Of Reel

A person close to the production is saying a November 2022 release date is a done deal. What?! Are you kidding me?! Are we seriously adding another awards contender to an already packed-to-the-rafters fall schedule? Sure looks like it. Of course, with Mendes you just never know what you’re going to get. The British filmmaker does tend to hit the mark with critics more so than not (“American Beauty,” “Skyfall,” “Road to Perdition,” “1917”)....

Sarah Polley Hasn T Directed A Film In Nine Years Due To A Severe Concussion World Of Reel

It turns out that a chapter in her new autobiographical book, explains her ubiquitous absence. Polley explains that she was injured six years ago when a large fire extinguisher, which was hung on the wall, fell on her head as she bent over a lost-and-found box at a Toronto community centre. The result was a never-ending concussion. This led to her dropping out of directing “Little Women,” Greta Gerwig took over and, eventually, rewrote Polley’s screenplay....

Sebastien Lelio S The Wonder Features Florence Pugh In Gothic Horror Tale Review World Of Reel

It’s too bad that the film itself, which sometimes feels slight and uninvolving, can’t match Pugh’s artistry. It’s a performance that needs to be seen in a movie that you quickly forget once the lights turn back on in the theatre. Set in The Irish Midlands of 1862, the story follows a an 11-year-old girl (Kíla Lord Cassidy) who has stopped eating for God, but remains miraculously alive and well....

Sigourney Weaver Surprises The Cast Of The Gone Viral High School Alien Play World Of Reel

What more was left for this high school drama team to achieve other than, ya know,l Ripley herself paying a visit and raving personally about it herself. That’s exactly what happened when on “Alien Day” (4/26, because LV-426), [via Deadline] Sigourney Weaver surprised the cast to pay her respects. Weaver: “How exciting is it to be here tonight? I’ve only been here a couple of hours, but I can tell this is a very special place in a very special town, and in a school like this you have extraordinary teachers…I met the students and I want to say they are so great....

“Prior to the pandemic, Dennis Lim and I spent time talking with each other and the Film at Lincoln Center staff about how we might reshape and focus the New York Film Festival,” said Eugene Hernandez, Director of NYFF. “We agreed that among the annual highlights are those special, one-of-a-kind events that unveil an anticipated new film by a well-known filmmaker, dig deeper into a topic or theme with a substantive conversation, showcase something new or unexpected, and even have some fun!...

Stephen King Criticizes Best Picture Nominees As Man Fiction With Many White Faces World Of Reel

King could have just left it at that, stood by his own beliefs and moved along, but today my respect for the legendary novelist has severely dwindled thanks to a Washington Post column in which the author argued the Oscars were still “rigged in favor of white people.” in his WaPo column King criticized Oscars’ Best Picture nominees, including “The Irishman,” “Ford v Ferrari,” “1917,” “Joker,” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” as “man-fiction” that had plenty of “fights, guns, and many white faces....

Surveyed Oscar Voters Are Still Very Angry And Wouldn T Vote For Will Smith World Of Reel

Would they vote for him? I counted around 53 participants in this “poll” and only about 13 said they would vote for the actor if his performance was worthy. Not a good ratio. Many admitted they wouldn’t mark him on their ballot, even if his “Emancipation.” performance was great and deserving. Most of the Oscar voters polled are still very angry about how he “dishonoured” the Academy with the slap heard around the world....

The 10 Best Horror Movies Of All Time World Of Reel

I really love the horror genre, at its best it can truly give you a cinematic feeling like no other. The jolts you experience from watching a spook-fest are akin to being in “fight or flight” mode, your body’s natural ability to react to a harmful event, attack, or threat for the sake of survival. Thus the action of covering your eyes or looking down when what’s happening on-screen is too much to take....

The 15 Best Movies Of 2020 World Of Reel

With most theaters closed, we had to settle with watching movies in the comfort of our own homes. Release dates for potential blockbusters such as “Dune,” and “West Side Story,” were pushed back to 2021, but in no way did that leave us with no movies. If we had gone through the COVID-19 pandemic, say, even just 10 years ago, then a list such as the one below may not have been conceivably possible....

The 20 Greatest Best Picture Winners World Of Reel

I just went through all 92 Best Picture winners on Wikipedia, I’ve seen 84 of them. Not too shabby. Most of the one’s missed are inessential stuff from the ‘20s and ‘30s — where the transition between silent movies and talkies was a wobbly one. There isn’t much time to rank them all, I’m practically Oscar-ed out, but while I was watching this past Sunday’s ceremony, I riffed on what were the worthiest Best Picture winners and came up with the 20 best:...

Darabont’s track record since then has been sparse but genuinely impressive. He followed ‘Shawshank’ with “The Green Mile,” which, judging by its IMDB rating of 8.6, has been wholly embraced as a classic by this generation. However, he hasn’t released a movie since 2007’s “The Mist.” But It’s not like he’s been inactive, he is credited as the creator of “The Walking Dead,” even though the series was taken away from him after its original season had aired (lawsuits between the director and AMC are still ongoing)....

Yes, the Snyder Cut is real and it’s coming to a TV screen near you as it is set for an HBO Max premiere next month. Tiff Recap The Best Movies Of The Fest World Of Reel

A whopping 35% of this year’s films in Toronto were directed by women, and the effects of that impressive figure were felt throughout the festival’s 10 days of cinema.
