Inarritu S Bardo Is 3 Hours World Of Reel

Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s “Bardo” is 180 minutes. That only makes me anticipate the film more. Alberto Barbera didn’t give an official runtime, but said it was around 3-hours, maybe the rumors that Inarritu is still in post-production are accurate. Todd Field’s “Tar” is 158 minutes. Noah Baumbach’s “White Noise” is 136 minutes. Andrew Dominik’s “Blonde” is 165 minutes. Get ready to spend many hours in theaters this fall. Short movies are in short supply; that’s why it’s refreshing to see that Frederick Wiseman’s “Un Couple” is just 67 minutes long, ditto Joanna Hogg’s “The Eternal Daughter” at under 90 minutes....

Is Sarah Polley S Women Talking Being Overpraised At Telluride World Of Reel

Barbera didn’t want “Women Talking” to play in competition, but did offer it a spot “out of competition”. His request was politely refused. If anything, the festival film that Barbera was most angry about missing out on was Steven Spielberg’s “The Fabelmans.” Other than that one, he managed to select everything that was on his radar. With that being said, THR’s Scott Feinberg is throwing some cold water at the “Women Talking” fanatics....

James Cameron Criticizes Marvel Dc Movies And Their Immature Characters World Of Reel

Speaking to the New York Times, Cameron admitted that it annoys him to see Marvel/DC characters never act like adults and always act “like they’re in college”: Then again, Cameron is major Zack Snyder fan. Snyder seems to be the exception for Cameron who has said that the “Batman v Superman” director invented a “new cinematic language” with his films. He’s not the only person who loves Snyder — in fact, there’s a huge pro-Snyder fanbase out there, including National Review critic Armond white....

Joaquin Phoenix Set To Star In Ari Aster S Beau Is Afraid World Of Reel

After giving us this one-two punch, Aster has already begun working on his next movie. Interviewed by the Associated Students Program Board at UC Santa Barbara last June, the filmmaker discussed what might be coming down the pipeline for him and while he didn’t go into detail about this new movie, Aster did say that it would be a 4-hour “nightmare comedy. Now we’re hearing via [Discussing Film] that Joaquin Phoenix is set to star in this mysterious new movie which now goes by the title of “Beau is Afraid....

John Wayne S Son Defends His Late Dad He Did Not Support White Supremacy World Of Reel

In a released statement [via Fox], Wayne’s 58-year-old son Ethan tried to defend his dad by saying: “Let me make one thing clear – John Wayne was not a racist. I know that term is casually tossed around these days, but I take it very seriously. I also understand how we got to this point.” The anti-Wayne sentiment started more than a year ago, when a 1971 interview Wayne gave to Playboy Magazine resurfaced....

Jordan Peele Raves About Ari Aster S Midsommar World Of Reel

“It plays a weird sleight of hand [in which] it transcends the horror of itself. It is an ascension of horror. I didn’t feel victimized; I felt like I was being put up on this pedestal and honored through the eyes of the protagonist. It’s a very unique feeling for a film to conjure because after it ended, I found myself looking back at the final act like, ‘Holy shit....

Jordan Peele S Nope Vfx Not Ready World Of Reel

I won’t lie that I know much about how long it takes to complete effects on such a big movie, but isn’t Peele cutting it a little short on time? A tweet from Big Screen Leaks reads: According to a source, the film seems to be a bigger budgeted popcorn version of “Signs,” with sprinkles of “Twister” and an emphasis on chasing UFOs. Popcorn fun. There are no big allegories....

Kevin Spacey Won T Be Charged For Sexual Assault After His Accuser Dies World Of Reel

Briefly, the actor was charged in January with one count of sexual assault. He pled not guilty. The charges against the actor were later dropped. Supposedly, the man accusing Spacey of sexual misbehavior had altered phone records/text messages and the defense attorney found out about that. When the kid took the fifth in court, the complainant lost the case. Today we’ve learned that the Los Angeles DA’s office has formally dropped another case against Spacey because, well, the accuser has died....

L A Film Critics Name Bbc Amazon Prime Anthology Series Small Axe Best Movie Of 2020 World Of Reel

The LAFCA shifted drastically from Friday’s New York Film Critics Circle winners, which gave Kelly Reichardt’s “First Cow” the best film of the year prize. The L.A. critics crowned Steve McQueen’s “Small Axe,” a BBC anthology series, as the best “film” of the year. Quotations are indeed needed for “Small Axe” as it is composed of 5 different films, the shortest clocking in at 68 minutes (Lovers Rock) and the lengthiest at 122 minutes (Mangrove) With the Oscars delayed until April 25, this puts some much-needed pressure for the AMPAS voting body to make McQueen’s films eligible for every major category as it most certainly has films and performances deserving of being honoured – last year’s top LAFCA prize was awarded to Bong Joon Ho’s “Parasite,” which went on to win Best Picture at the 2020 Academy Awards....

It is no surprise then that Gaga-mania mixed with word of mouth for the film has made the film’s soundtrack sell more than 231,000 copies in the week ending Oct. 11, according to Nielsen Music – according to Billboard that’s “the biggest week for a soundtrack in more than three-and-a-half years. Of Star’s overall starting sum, 162,000 were in album sales.” Contribute Hire me Advertise Donate Team Contact Privacy Policy

Let S Stop It With The Gender Parity Complaints At Cannes World Of Reel

Europe has been far less willing to adapt to American cultural progressivsm, which has led to not just Venice but also the Cannes Film Festival getting heat from American and British-based journos for not being inclusive enough. American values in art may be best described by Berlin-based producer Janine Jackowiski (Toni Erdmann) who states, “You can see how in America, if you don’t play by the rules, you’re out. Here in Europe, there’s still the idea of the ‘genius’ who is allowed to do anything and should be celebrated for it....

Scorsese has also stated that Robert De Niro will play the part of William Hale, one of the main characters in the book. Last year, Variety had confirmed that Scorsese and Dicaprio’s sixth collaboration together would start production this summer. However, with Scorsese still promoting “The Irishman,” a Spring 2020 date does make sense. No matter, the movie is now definitely happening, with Paramount having even picked it up for distribution....

Noah Baumbach S White Noise Dissects 1980 S American Family Trailer World Of Reel

Inject this movie into my veins ASAP. It looks like a mess, but in the most glorious of ways. Baumbach mentioned he decided to make “White Noise” after seeing society collapsing in early 2020 due to the pandemic. Don DeLillo’s novel is the dissection of an American family via apocalyptic circumstances. It goes against everything that is sacred in 2022, and for that we should be thankful Baumbach convinced Netflix to give him the greenlight on this one....

Oscars Coda Winning Best Picture Is Now A High Possibility World Of Reel

The Oscar voting body is filled with regular folks who don’t really pay much attention to film criticism and go by their own headwind. To find what films truly struck a chord with this demographic, you usually have to look at the audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic, CinemaScore and IMDb. This year’s 10 Oscar nominees have been, more or less, widely seen by movie fans — hell, even “Drive My Car” is now available to watch on HBO Max....
