Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s “Bardo” is 180 minutes. That only makes me anticipate the film more. Alberto Barbera didn’t give an official runtime, but said it was around 3-hours, maybe the rumors that Inarritu is still in post-production are accurate. Todd Field’s “Tar” is 158 minutes. Noah Baumbach’s “White Noise” is 136 minutes. Andrew Dominik’s “Blonde” is 165 minutes. Get ready to spend many hours in theaters this fall. Short movies are in short supply; that’s why it’s refreshing to see that Frederick Wiseman’s “Un Couple” is just 67 minutes long, ditto Joanna Hogg’s “The Eternal Daughter” at under 90 minutes....

Barbera didn’t want “Women Talking” to play in competition, but did offer it a spot “out of competition”. His request was politely refused. If anything, the festival film that Barbera was most angry about missing out on was Steven Spielberg’s “The Fabelmans.” Other than that one, he managed to select everything that was on his radar. With that being said, THR’s Scott Feinberg is throwing some cold water at the “Women Talking” fanatics....

Speaking to the New York Times, Cameron admitted that it annoys him to see Marvel/DC characters never act like adults and always act “like they’re in college”: Then again, Cameron is major Zack Snyder fan. Snyder seems to be the exception for Cameron who has said that the “Batman v Superman” director invented a “new cinematic language” with his films. After giving us this one-two punch, Aster has already begun working on his next movie. The LAFCA shifted drastically from Friday’s New York Film Critics Circle winners, which gave Kelly Reichardt’s “First Cow” the best film of the year prize. The L.A. critics crowned Steve McQueen’s “Small Axe,” a BBC anthology series, as the best “film” of the year. Quotations are indeed needed for “Small Axe” as it is composed of 5 different films, the shortest clocking in at 68 minutes (Lovers Rock) and the lengthiest at 122 minutes (Mangrove) With the Oscars delayed until April 25, this puts some much-needed pressure for the AMPAS voting body to make McQueen’s films eligible for every major category as it most certainly has films and performances deserving of being honoured – last year’s top LAFCA prize was awarded to Bong Joon Ho’s “Parasite,” which went on to win Best Picture at the 2020 Academy Awards....

It is no surprise then that Gaga-mania mixed with word of mouth for the film has made the film’s soundtrack sell more than 231,000 copies in the week ending Oct. 11, according to Nielsen Music – according to Billboard that’s “the biggest week for a soundtrack in more than three-and-a-half years. Europe has been far less willing to adapt to American cultural progressivsm, which has led to not just Venice but also the Cannes Film Festival getting heat from American and British-based journos for not being inclusive enough. Inject this movie into my veins ASAP. It looks like a mess, but in the most glorious of ways. Baumbach mentioned he decided to make “White Noise” after seeing society collapsing in early 2020 due to the pandemic. Don DeLillo’s novel is the dissection of an American family via apocalyptic circumstances. It goes against everything that is sacred in 2022, and for that we should be thankful Baumbach convinced Netflix to give him the greenlight on this one....
