The budget on this Netflix original is said to have been over $120 million. Of course, there is no way an adaptation of Don DeLillo’s novel should have been more than $30-50 million, there is no CGI needed except for the toxic gas sequence, as it’s mostly characters monologuing with each other in various rooms. And yet, it looks as though Netflix will again be working with Baumbach, It’s part of the deal they signed with him. The New York Post is exclusively reporting that Netflix has greenlit a new movie starring Brad Pitt and Adam Sandler, to be directed by Baumbach. No further details on the upcoming film, and the project is in early development, but, as mentioned, Baumbach signed an exclusive multi-year deal to make movies for the streamer in January 2021, right after his “Marriage Story” was nominated for six Oscars, including Best Picture. Baumbach is the writer-director behind the indie classics “The Squid and the Whale” and “Frances Ha.” Sandler previously teamed up with Baumbach on “The Meyerowitz Stories.” Pitt has never worked with either of them.
