Movies such as the latest in the James Bond franchise, No Time To Die, have been pushed back and there have been no major superhero movies for several months either. This is an ideal chance to look back at some of the most successful franchises that are based on movies, so let’s take a look.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

With 23 films already released - and a lot more on the way - the Marvel Cinematic Universe is up there with the most successful movie franchises of all time. It is easy to forget there was a lot of skepticism back when the original Iron Man film came out, with film fans unsure how it would work with the various Avengers all linking up. But comic book lovers have lapped it up, with the MCU responsible for a string of massive box office hits, as well as inspiring a vast array of merchandise. Not only are MCU toys extremely popular with young children, adults love to get involved with the franchise through things such as playing online slots at casino sites. Phase Four of the MCU is now set to get up and running, with the franchise entering a new era.  Black Widow will kick things off ahead of the release of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Eternals, with new Thor, Doctor Strange and Spider-Man movies also out in the next couple of years.

James Bond

Despite having started life as a series of novels, James Bond is now one of the biggest franchises in the movie business. Not to mention the impact these films have had on the culture and entertainment sphere. It made poker and casino in general accessible and popular with people. Now, many of them are real gamers and are trying to find 200 free spins no deposit to continue their game and try their luck. And all this would not have happened without the influence of James Bond. The secret agent known as 007 has starred in some of the most successful movies of all time, with actors such as Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan having played Bond over the years. Daniel Craig is the man in the tuxedo for now but No Time To Die - which is now set to come out in 2021 after multiple delays - will be his last film appearance as Bond. A combined gross of almost $7 billion to date shows just how important Bond is for cinemas, which helps to explain why they have struggled to bounce back without No Time To Die.

Star Wars

Opinion has been very mixed on the newer Star Wars movies, but they have resurrected a movie franchise that seemed for a long time to be dead. The switch to Disney has encouraged innovation within the world of Star Wars, with the release of The Mandalorian more widely praised by both critics and fans of the series. Rogue One and Solo: A Star Wars Story have shown a future could lie in spin-off movies, but the latter flopped a little and forced Disney to rethink their plans for Star Wars. Surprisingly, it is yet to be confirmed what the next Star Wars movie will be that comes out in cinemas, but it stands to reason that a fourth trilogy will be in the works at some point.

Wizarding World

The Wizarding World has seen 10 films come out so far, with Harry Potter continuing to be a juggernaut of a franchise despite the last novel being published all the way back in 2007. It is widely expected that the Fantastic Beasts series is the future of the franchise in movie terms, but it would not be a shock were there to be a movie adaptation of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. While it was initially planned that Cursed Child would remain a stand-alone film, the chance to make another smash hit Harry Potter film may eventually prove to be too hard to turn down. Harry Potter and the Wizarding World has been built into one of the most versatile franchises around. Not only have the original books by JK Rowling sold more than 500 million copies worldwide, the entire franchise is now estimated to be worth in the region of $25 billion. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has been a smash hit for Universal Parks & Resorts  with fans of the franchise flocking to Florida, Japan and Hollywood to enjoy rides and more.
