George Miller’s “Mad Max: Fury Road” finished atop the poll. Surprised? Well, you bet I am. Because there is no way ‘Fury Road’ should ever be seen as the best movie released since 2000. Is it a great movie? Of course. But it is surely isn’t better than Mulholland Drive, There Will Be Blood, Tree of Life, The Death of Mr. Lazarescu, No Country For Old Men, Children of Men, Spirited Away, Cache, Twin Peaks: The Return, Uncle Boonmee, The Master … Empire’s Best Movies of the 21st Century Obviously, based on the reading material, Empire will ultimately produce a fanboy influenced list when such a poll is taken by them — You have three Nolans, Infinity War, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, The Lord of the Rings, all in the top 20. Not to mention, only two foreign movies (“Pan’s Labyrinth” and “Spirited Away”). Then again, I’m not complaining about any of these titles being, at the very least, very good movies (“Infinity War” excepted). The full top 100. Contribute Hire me
