Director Jason Reitman will direct and co-write the new Ghostbusters movie, which is said to be set in the original universe. The production is targeted to start this year with a planned Summer 2020 release date. Reitman had previously told Entertainment Weekly that the new movie will ignore the 2016 reboot directed by Paul Feig, and will be a direct continuation of the 1984 original. Reitman is the son of Ivan Reitman, who directed the original movies. Jason has had his own very successful career as a filmmaker ever since his 2005 debut “Thank You For Not Smoking,” following that one up with the Oscar-nominated “Up in the Air” and “Juno.”
