Kazan’s “She Said” co-star Carey Mulligan, who gives the better performance of the two, will be campaigned in this year’s very weak Best Supporting Actress category. Know what? She has a shot. Kazan, the aforementioned sacrificed lamb, is being campaigned as lead and thus has absolutely no shot at a nomination. Five days ago, right before the film premiered at NYFF, I reported that I was hearing Mulligan would likely be campaigned as Supporting. Both share around the same amount of screentime in “She Said.” I’d say the five Supporting Actress nods we are looking at right now are Jean Smart (Babylon), Jessie Buckley (Women Talking), Nina Hoss (TAR), Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin) and Carey Mulligan (She Said). Janelle Monae (Glass Onion) is also knocking at the door and could take Mulligan’s spot. Still no word yet on what Paramount will do in regards to Babylon’s Margot Robbie going lead or supporting. Whichever category she competes in, she’ll be a force to be reckoned with. I keep hearing she’s phenomenal in Damien Chazelle’s upcoming epic. Contribute Hire me
