Quite a few developments today. Firstly, it now has a teaser trailer and, more peculiarly, it has a March 29th, 2024 release date attached to it. The only festival premiere it might be aiming for is maybe Berlin. Otherwise, it sounds like Warner Bros won’t be gunning for awards with this one. Which is perfectly fine. This is a highly anticipated film, Bong’s first one since his Palme d’Or and Oscar-winning “Parasite.” He has quite the filmography, with his best works, “Parasite” included, being “The Host,” “Memories of a Murder” and “Snowpiercer.” “Mickey17” stars Robert Pattinson and is an adaptation of Edward Ashton’s upcoming novel. Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo are also set to co-star. Production on “Mickey17” began in the UK back in August and will continue until, at least, December. Just reading about this film, one can imagine that there will be a lot of post-production VFX, which could explain why “Mikey17” isn’t being released next year. The novel’s official synopsis: “The story follows Mickey17, an Expendable, a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim. Whenever there’s a mission that’s too dangerous—even suicidal—the crew turns to Mickey. After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact. After six deaths, Mickey7 understands the terms of his deal…and why it was the only colonial position unfilled when he took it.” Contribute Hire me
