The news that Apple has now secured acclaimed filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón into an exclusive TV deal is mighty impressive. Yes, its a “TV deal” and, according to Variety, he’s not abandoning film anytime soon. This is just Cuaron following in the footsteps of some of his cinematic peers, which include David Lynch (“Twin Peaks: The Return”), Steven Spielberg (“Band of Brothers”), Martin Scorsese (“Boardwalk Empire”) and David Fincher (“Mindhunter”). TV is a hot commodity and Cuaron knows it. Cuaron won the best director Oscar for his work in “Roma,” which was produced by Netflix. No word yet if this Apple contract allows him to work with other streaming services, but Apple should be excited to have a filmmaker of his caliber be part of their streaming family. Apple TV+ will launch on November 1. Contribute Hire me
