Nichols hasn’t made a movie since 2016’s subtle, but beautiful interracial romance “Loving.” The 41-year-old director has built up an impressive filmography ever since his 2007 debut “Shotgun Stories,” he followed up that indie with the critically-acclaimed “Take Shelter,” “Mud” and “Midnight Special.” Driver is one of the hottest actors around right now. Every filmmaker wants to work him right now, he’s already starred in films directed by Martin Scorsese, Clint Eastwood, Steven Spielberg, Joel and Ethan Coen, Jim Jarmusch, Spike Lee, Noah Baumbach, Steven Soderbergh, JJ Abrams, Terry Gilliam — all of this in a span of fewer than 10 years.
