If you remember, Spacey was kicked off his own Netflix show, “House Of Cards,“ and then had his already shot role in Ridley Scott’s “All The Money In The World” completely erased and redone by actor Christopher Plummer. Spacey last year even released a strange video where he appeared as Frank Underwood, the conniving U.S. President he played in “House Of Cards,” in which he mentioned: “I’m certainly not going to pay the price for the thing I didn’t do.” For months he has kept out of the public eye, but now he’s back and reading poetry about “a wounded performer determined not to succumb to the blows he endures.” Spacey made his first media appearance, on the Bitz & Pretzels podcast (via The Daily Mail), since being accused of sexual assault, and spoke up about how his life is now, but, less genuinely, also paralleled the current COVID-19 pandemic with his own bout of unemployment . “I don’t often like to tell people that I can relate to their situation because I think it undermines the experience that they may be having, which is their own unique and very personal experience,” said Spacey. “But in this instance, I feel as though I can relate to what it feels like to have your world suddenly stop. … And so while we may have found ourselves in similar situations, albeit for very different reasons and circumstances, I still believe that some of the emotional struggles are very much the same.” He added, “I do have empathy for what it feels like to suddenly be told that you can’t go back to work or that you might lose your job and that it’s a situation that you have absolutely no control over.” I’m not sure why Spacey had to compare himself to people unemployed due to COVID, but any effort by HIM to try and defend himself completely fell out of the window after he said that. It was a dumb thing to say. While millions of people have lost their jobs and are now on unemployment insurance, Spacey probably has millions in his bank. Was it purposefully said on his part? Did Spacey know exactly what he was doing here? That, I am not sure of, but he’s had a knack of late to troll away wherever he can get some attention. His last stunt happened in the summer of 2019 when he was spotted in the streets of Rome reading poetry aloud, with people gathering around and realizing that, yeah, this was Kevin Spacey. Spacey also vented about his “painful” journey after being accused of a series of sexual assaults. “I don’t think it will come as a surprise for anyone to say that my world completely changed in the fall of 2017,” the 60-year-old said in the interview. He continued, “my job, many of my relationships were all gone in a matter of hours.” Last year was a celebratory time for Spacey, who had the sexual misconduct charges against him dropped in Massachusetts a few weeks ago. That hasn’t stopped investigators from London to L.A. from continuing to try and find dirt and investigate the actor over six other allegations of sexual assault. Most of these charges stem from Spacey’s time as the artistic director at London’s The Old Vic theatre between 2004 and 2015. The actor did apologize for any “inappropriate drunken behaviour,” but says he can’t remember any incidents of wrongdoing during that time.
