Bitcoin: The End of Money As We Know It This is an hour-long movie, created in 2014 by Thorsten Hoffman, which has become one of the best movies for anyone who has an interest in cryptocurrencies. It has multiple interviews with experts in blockchain, cryptocurrency investors as well as some of the earliest adopters of crypto to try and explain how and why cryptocurrencies were created, and the potential for it over the next few years. Trust Machine - The Story of Blockchain This is the first movie to be fully funded and distributed via Blockchain, which is also a great way to show the potential that this innovation has. The movie itself explores blockchain’s potential, from being able to work on global issues such as inequality and hunger, to more mundane problems such as electricity bills and internet speeds.  The Rise and Rise of Bitcoin Bitcoin is the most popular cryptocurrency in the world, and therefore there has been no shortage of interest in this coin, especially in the last 12 months. This documentary explains why this is the case; how Bitcoin became the biggest cryptocurrency in the world, through interviews with some of the most influential people in the crypto space globally. Life on Bitcoin One of the main complaints against Bitcoin and other cryptos is that they cannot be easily used for everyday transactions. Thus, ‘Life on Bitcoin’ is an experiment to test this, with a couple, Austin and Becky, deciding to use only crypto for their daily needs, and forego cash, cards, cheques and every other form of payment.  Banking on Bitcoin Most innovations that are successful today were initially ridiculed and dismissed, especially in the world of technology and finance, and going by that logic, it may seem as though Bitcoin is headed on a similar path. Thus, this documentary focuses on bringing out the various benefits that Bitcoin can have for society. Cryptopia: Bitcoin, Blockchain and the Future of the Internet This is Thorsten Hoffman’s second venture after the aforementioned 2014 documentary. In this movie, Hoffman focuses on blockchain, which has arguably even more potential than cryptocurrencies, and can influence sectors and industries across a wide spectrum and all over the world. Netflix Explained: Cryptocurrency The ‘Netflix Explained’ series of short informative episodes is an excellent way for people to get a quick understanding of topics that they have no idea about. Each episode focuses on a different topic, and thus, there is one on cryptocurrencies as well. It is a 14-minute long episode that explains how cryptocurrencies were created, how they work and the potential they have in various sectors. Monero Means Money: Cryptocurrency 101, Live from Leipzig  Justin Ehrenhofer is the man behind this documentary, which focuses on Monero, a fungible cryptocurrency. Dr Daniel Kim, a crypto expert, provides an understanding of how Monero works, and this is relevant for cryptocurrencies in general as well, as he also shows the impact that cryptocurrencies can have in the future. Crypto Rush  ‘Crypto Rush’ is a movie directed by Liliana Pertenava which simplifies cryptocurrencies and blockchain in layman’s terms. Crypto This is the only movie on this list that is not a documentary or an informative movie in some manner. ‘Crypto’ is a crime thriller with cryptocurrencies as the central plot point, and we can expect to see more movies of this type in the future as cryptocurrencies become part of mainstream economic systems. It stars Kurt Russell, Beau Knapp and Luke Hemsworth, among others. Contribute Hire me
