Magnus von Horn’s new film, “Sweat” tells the story of a popular fitness influencer with more than 600,000 followers on social media, who hides behind a facade. Taking place during just a few days in her every-so-busy life, we see her having to deal with a potential stalker, endless online rumors, and the major stresses that come with the “profession” she’s chosen. One look at the just-released trailer reveals von Horn’s refusal to ridicule or thinly-sketch his lead protagonist. The film was written and directed by von Horn (“The Here After”) who was supposed to return to Cannes this year with ”Sweat,” however, with the COVID-19 pandemic forcing Cannes to cancel public screenings, the film ended up being included on the Cannes 2020 Official Selections list. “Sweat” is currently looking for distribution, but being part of this year’s Cannes picks means we will likely see it at some of the digital, and non-digital, fall festivals before the year is completed.
