Peele’s film has not built that much enthusiasm, even with its expensive Super Bowl and NBA finals ads. I did put the film as our #1 most anticipated movie of the summer, but that was before we knew much about it. Box Office Pro just released the projected numbers for “Nope,” which is set to be released on July 22nd. The film is currently tracking at a $45-65 million opening weekend, which I find hard to believe. Peele has had two runaway box-office hits with “Get Out” and “Us,” but the latter proved to be very divisive and made almost half of its $175.1 domestic earnings on the first weekend.
