Having paid through the nose for the rights to the filmed production, Disney will surely be hoping (as Netflix and ESPN have done with “The Last Dance”) that increased viewership due to the ongoing pandemic will drive people to their screens for just under three hours of the telling of the life of one of America’s foremost founding fathers. “Hamilton” drops on July 3rd on Disney +.  Disney has forked over close to $75 million for the rights to distribute the filmed version of the “Hamilton” stage production. We have yet to confirm, but this looks like it could be the biggest acquisition for distribution in film history. According to Deadline, it will be a 160-minute film recorded with the original cast, two weeks before they went their own ways. Will “Hamilton,” a massive record-breaking hit on Broadway, earn serious viewership on the mouse house’s streaming platform? All sign are pointing to yes. Contribute Hire me
