In an Interview write-up, she’s decided to stir the pot further by implying that her film’s villain, Chris Pine‘s “Frank,” leader of a cult-like community, is based on “this insane man, Jordan Peterson, who is this pseudo-intellectual hero to the incel community.” Wilde is trying to gain some cultural points here with her throw down of Peterson, just as her film becomes a sinking ship due to numerous controversies. I haven’t seen enough speeches from the Canadian University professor to make a firm judgement about him, but he doesn’t really strike me as an “incel.” He just likes to condemn certain progressive behaviors as false or unnecessary. His mental breakdown, from an addiction to Benzodiazepines, seems to have changed him for the worse, but Incel? Of course, you won’t have Wilde partaking in any debate as to why Peterson is a meanie, but I doubt she can even debate in the first place. Here’s Wilde on Peterson: “This guy Jordan Peterson is someone who legitimizes certain aspects of [the incels] movement because he’s a former professor, he’s an author, he wears a suit, so they feel like this is a real philosophy that should be taken seriously.” Don’t Worry Darling is set to screen at a Venice on September 5th. We’ll be keeping a close eye out on that screening. Contribute Hire me
