The lure of 2009’s “Avatar” wasn’t its “Pocahontas” meets “Dances With Wolves” storyline, it was mostly the fact that Cameron revitalized 3D technology for an industry that desperately needed a boost at the box-office. ‘Way of the Water’ seems like a visual feast, a Special Effects Oscar is practically in the books, but how will it keep our attention for 190 minutes? The main question I have is how exactly will Cameron one-up the groundbreaking 3D of the first film? There’s a lot of pressure for the technology to be the real wow-factor in this sequel and, although he had hinted a few years back about making ‘Way of The Water’ a glasses-free 3D experience, that clearly didn’t materialize. We will still have to wear the specs when we go see this movie. This is basically Cameron’s $300m wet dream. Whether this sequel makes more money than 2009’s “Avatar” is still up for debate. There’s a lot riding on James Cameron’s sequel, especially since a third chapter has already been shot and the fourth and fifth instalments are currently in production. Sam Worthington, taking some time off from his Whole Foods shift, is back for the sequel, he’s joined by Sigourney Weaver and Zoe Saldana. Press screening are supposed to take place the first week of December. “Avatar: The Way of Water” premieres December 16th in theaters. Contribute Hire me
