This year’s Berlinale winner, Carla Simón’s “Alcarràs” was just bought by the streaming service MUBI. It is now set for a brief theatrical release in late 2022 before going to streaming. The 72nd Berlin Film Festival wrapped up in late February to rather muted buzz. I was supposed to attend, but ended up getting cold feet due to the lukewarm lineup and the severe restrictions that came in attending the festival this year.
